HAHA. I BULLI SKYRIM.

Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim is a game that I spent a lot of my time on. Long enough to become a major part of my life. But I hated every moment of it.

Ok, not really. But the game was a bit cracked. I can say with utmost certainty that Skyrim has been the only game I have been addicted to.

Spending half of lockdown replaying the shit out of the game allowed me to see how boring the game often became if you didn't use your imagination. With all the expansions and DLC I never felt like I did anything new in Skyrim. So let me tell you what I hated about Skyrim, vanilla Skyrim.

The Plot:

Oh the plot, what a mess. The main questline is the most boring questline with probably the shittiest end boss I have ever fought. The memes say it all. We get these fetch quests half the time which are just annoying. But I'm not gonna hate on it much cuz not everyone focuses on the main plot as while interesting it somehow stays boring.

The casual player can find enjoyment in the smaller plots, those we follow as side quests. Those quests have brought me more joy than fighting Alduin who was a (cat donkey female-dog). The DLC main plots are way better than the Dragonborn story-line with way better characters and fun to be had in new lands.

Yes, it's just an opinion. That many of you might not share but its what I felt after the whole game. It was short and boring.

Nothing Truly Changes:

Imagine this, you have been sent on a quest to find (insert MacGuffin) in a tomb. You fight through masses of Draugr who most of the time look-alike to reach the end of the dungeon. You take the treasure back to the quest-giver and are rewarded. And so you set on to find another quest and is given one by another NPC.

Now imagine this, there are enemies in a tomb you have to defeat to save the town, So you venture into the tomb and fight through masses of Draugr who most of the time look-alike and maybe some others to reach the end of the dungeon. You return to the quest-giver and are rewarded.

You understand now?

There is no variety in quests if you cut it down to basics. The Dark Brotherhood quests after the storyline suck. I mean, they were "go here, kill this" before the story ended but without the story, it feels as if there is no need to kill anymore. It is only in the game so that game never truly ends.

The war plot should have been a centrepiece of the game but it was dulled down into the background. It had its moments but it also can be dulled down into a "go there and take over that, go here and take over this".

I outright hate some of the hostile NPC's. The damn insects called chaurus and the dragons have been a nuisance in every playthrough. The dragons were the worst, instead of being a rare mythical kill they feel more like a spider that fell in your tub and you are obliged to kill it.

Vanilla:

Skyrim has a good replay value but it eventually runs out. But Skyrim in itself has problems such as immersion, textures, combat etc. Oh god.

Skyrim looks like shit by today's standards. And the NPC's are sometimes bland as mayonnaise. With the same enemies to fight all the time and a blocky combat system, the game leaves something to be wanted. But it can be fixed with mods.

No-one who came back to Skyrim hasn't used a mod of any sort be it the NSFW mods 😉, texture mods or just some really weird shit. Skyrim only has a larger time value because of these mods which make the game more fun and all power to that.

Conclusion:

The game is amazing with a low amount of replayability until it dies out. But mods, Skyrim cannot truly be the ultimate weekend funtage without mods. But it can still satiate the desire to play a good RPG, something that every game nowadays tries to be and fails a lot at.

I love Skyrim a lot and that's the reason this post is short. Even if you are a casual gamer or a hardcore gaming badass, everyone should give The Elder Scrolls V a chance. As shit as it may turn out to be, it can give you moments of pure- I can't describe the feeling.

So experience Skyrim and make up your mind about it if you haven't played it yet and those who have played the game can hopefully agree with me.
